Sound advice from PB there as always but also I sympathize with your position. The extra costs added to your original purchase price are taking you close to the price of a second hand Radius 5 / Nima combination so I understand your reluctance. Also many of us in the past have opted to deliver our equipment directly to the factory ourselves rather than risk it with the parcel carriers - the fear being that once Mr T has worked his magic, it is then undone by some clumsy handling in transit!
Do you know any other enthusiasts over there in Portugal who could give you a hand with the setting-up? I don't believe the radius 3 to be a particularly complex design so would imagine someone with experience of turntable set up could help get things running for you if you just order the parts (obviously not as well as Mr T).
I'm sure Mr T wouldn't be insulted if you had a go at things yourself - after all he started designing turntables after fiddling around with LP12's trying to get them to work properly!

thanks Spartacus, for feeling my concern about the price of technical assistance abroad and fear in shipping a fine roksan TT.
there is 2 analogue specialists here in Portugal (delmax & audioteam) and they are good technicians from the feedback im getting over at an hi-fi forum (www.audiopt.net)
so once i get my belt and fix my power-box, i will drop my TT at their shop for them to tune-up my radius 3.
PS: i fancy that new TT from Rega P3/24 in green gloss for 500€ but if all hell brakes loose for my radius or my wallet i can always put back up my 170€ simple but faithful project rpm1 genie! _________________ Roksan K2 amp / Atlas equador superior IC / Roksan K2 cd / Roksan TR5 speakers / Qed silver anniversary XT cables / Rega P3 turntable / Roksan Tabriz tonearm / Goldring 1006 cartridge. |

Thats also good advice, I never let my TT out of my site but then its easier when the factory is only a couple of hours away,

2º reply from Mr Touraj:
| Quote: | | ...It may be possible to do what you wish there in Portugal and hopefully avoid sending the record player back to us for service... |
PS1: But i dont want to send my radius to UK
| Quote: | | Did i understood right ??? His going to do preassure here in PT on Roksan´s representatives (such as reseller DELAUDIO) for them to do an effort in fixing my Radius (if he has in stock or receives from UK the parts)? |
WOW! i simply asked to ship me a new belt since i would take care of the repairs on my own, by going over to a TT shop here...
NOW THATS SERVICE! TOURAJ RULES...

Just re-checked the dimension of radius 3 belt and its total lenght in flat-mode (not as a loop) is 58cm so its 22.83 inches! ...i went around the belt with sticky tape and then stretched down the tape on the table and measured it from one end to another & voilá!

well, ive been listening hi-fi with my new roksan cables for 1h now and they are ruthless... in a good way i guess but im not used to it!
they separate very well the front and back instruments in a 3D soundstage with a neutral scale to it.
i must get used to it, because i had some QED interconnects and ATLAS Equador on my speakers - which were very colorful and added more warmth to the music.
but they didnt dig as much detail out of the CD as my new Roksan so its OK! _________________ Roksan K2 amp / Atlas equador superior IC / Roksan K2 cd / Roksan TR5 speakers / Qed silver anniversary XT cables / Rega P3 turntable / Roksan Tabriz tonearm / Goldring 1006 cartridge. |

the latest email from Mr. Touraj says not to give up on my TT since he was on my case and will send me pics + step-by-step of the setup/calibration for me to fix my Radius 3...
i only hope he gets me also the so-much-needed belt!!! its going to be an interesting week-end for me - a noob tweaking a vintage TT no worries, i know a analogue wiseman who can get it running in no time.
with pics, manual and a belt what can go wrong? maybe the price for repair, at worst! _________________ Roksan K2 amp / Atlas equador superior IC / Roksan K2 cd / Roksan TR5 speakers / Qed silver anniversary XT cables / Rega P3 turntable / Roksan Tabriz tonearm / Goldring 1006 cartridge. |

wow, i got the awaited email from touraj - he told me that finding old manuals and taking pics is time consuming so i shouldnt become inpatient!
the contents was 18 pdf files showing the steps about calibrating, setting up the radius 3 correctly and he also gave prices for the parts i need - so i ordered them and await the total amount for me to do a bank transfer.
im very grateful to touraj for his dedication and patience with my quest... finaly im going to have the new power-box and the belt and with the pdf manual im going to leave the TT at a analogue hifi store for repair! _________________ Roksan K2 amp / Atlas equador superior IC / Roksan K2 cd / Roksan TR5 speakers / Qed silver anniversary XT cables / Rega P3 turntable / Roksan Tabriz tonearm / Goldring 1006 cartridge. |

Oh no! I've been outed! Sadly I have to admit to being an 80's Roksan fanboy hence a small archive of articles on some of Roksan's early products. I suppose it comes in useful now and again so was glad to be able to copy the Radius 3 article to Soundzen.
