    Hi All,

    I have a Kandy KC-1 Mk1 which I have owned for around 7 years.

Last September it started to skip intermittently, It has now got alot worse at least one skip per CD (never the same place).

I have just ordered a new CD mechanism and laser unit.

I have removed my old one waiting fo the new unit to arrive, are there any adjustments when fitting the new unit? Anything else I could do to freshen the player up?

    Thanks

It could just have been the laser tracking needing reset......was acommon problem on older Caspian models.....

    Hi,
I managed to get a new mechanism and laser assembly for under £30 delivered.

It is all fitted and working great Very Happy , like new.

Hopefully I will get another 7 years use out of it.

    Cheers

    Can you elaborate on that?

Certainly. I had a Caspian 1 and M series mk1 Cd player both of which developed a a tick as they played. Early Caspians, much as I loved them, often were unable to play CD-r s because the tracking deteriorated after time. Once re-calibrated , they would be fine, but might again deteriorate. No problem with commercial cds, but that tick used to annoy the hell out of me. This problem only occured on the drop-front models. My M2 is perfect!
