Ok , while i,m no electronics expert I,ll give it a shot. There is not such a thing as passive amp. All amps are active . What you mean probably is passive preamp, and yes it will work no problem with caspian m-1 amps. provided that your CD player or phono pre has adequate gain. The Caspian m-1 pre is an active one with about 10 decibels gain increase. By the way generally a passive preamp has no gain increase and an active preamp does increase the gain. Hope this helps .
