I thought that I would provide one for the archives for those people unable to track down Roksan Speaker cable from the internet/ local dealers. Roksan will supply you direct. Just ordered 10 metres (largely on the strength of RSC's comments). I'll hold on to my QED XT400 until I've given it a good listen, but I'm waiting with fond expectations. |

So no pressure on me here...
Let us all know how you get on - will be interesting to hear from other Roksan cable users (yes, you Soundzen... ) in this thread too.
"Kadeshuk", do Roksan supply just the cable or can they supply it with plugs fitted? _________________ Believe what you will, this is MY truth... |

| I didn't ask about terminations - quite happy to do/arrange my own if the cable turns out like I expect it to. How does your Toshiba do for 2 channel listening compared to the Caspian? ( If you don't consider the question too inappropriate for a Roksan forum). |

Quick update for those who don't know: my regular Caspian CD player has been getting progressively more poorly, so have been using a Toshiba SD900 DVD player instead...
To answer the question - very well, actually. Don't forget that this was the first DVD-Audio player with any pretensions to decent sound quality, so a bit of a flagship for the (now-obselete) technology involved.
I have been writing a mini-blog on another forum (Hi Fi Wigwam) for those who want to get the full story.
Will be trying to save some pennies up to get my Caspian fixed, but suspect the bill will be a bit steep, especially compared to what the Tosh cost me.
The next couple of changes I plan to make are a new cartridge for my turntable and a Caspian pre-amp (using the integrated as a pre only), unless I manage to fluke a Platinum pre of course! _________________ Believe what you will, this is MY truth... |

PB, you are one of the most eminent and long-standing Roksan owners on this forum - have you ever used Roksan l/s cables or has your choice of amplification (Naim) always dictated the cables you could or couldn't use?
BTW - like Naim, Exposure used to issue dire warnings about using "third party" 'speaker cables. Despite using VdH cables with them for several years, I never had an amp. blow up on me...
Go on, get yerself a Nait and have a play! _________________ Believe what you will, this is MY truth... |

This may surprise you but I have three Roksan cables in my system, one between the TMS and the phono, another between phono and 552 and the third is between the Panasonic and the 552.
I have the Naim hi-lines between the Naim sources and the 552.
I have alos tired Nordost Valhall and Chord Indigo, the Indigo was very impressive as was the Nordost but it soon became apparent the Naims don't like the Nordost,

Hey, that's cool, but it was the 'speaker cables I was asking about - you're a NAC-A5 man, IIRC, but did you ever experiment with Roksan l/s cables?
Just asking to try to give other forum members a different POV... _________________ Believe what you will, this is MY truth... |

Sure, I am a Naca 5 man but I have tried plenty of speaker cable in the past.
I haven't tried Roksan cable but I have tried Chord Signature, Vertex Moncoya and Nordost Red Dawn.
I would like to tyr others but when you need two lengths of 8 m the cost can be restrictive,

Wow, pretty serious wires there, PB - what did you find? Did any of them tempt you to invest?
I've played with several cables myself... Chord, VdH and QED, also Nordost, Cable Talk plus others. _________________ Believe what you will, this is MY truth... |

I found the Signiture was very detailed and dynamic but it also enhanced the bass output between the Naim 500 and the Emotions and the result just overloaded the room.
The Moncoya was probably the best I have ever heard although this was with the Eben x3's. It was clear and dynamic and gave a solid three dimensional sound. I was sorely tempted but the cost put me off.
The Nordost was very similar to the Chord but I found with the Nordost that the sound went off after about a month. Replacing it with the Naca was a revaltion and the Naca has stayed since,

PS I would like to try some Kondo Silver cable which ART use inside their Silver speakers but I need to win the lottery first,
